RESCUE EARTH is a supporter of Haiti Empowerment Mission- a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The mission was founded in 2011 by Michael Capponi, who has made over 60 support trips to Haiti since the tragic earthquake of January 12th 2010. The near-term goal of the organization is to empower the people of Haiti by providing quality education, diverse vocational training and job creation. The ultimate objective is to create opportunities for the people of Haiti to have a self-sufficient and sustainable economy, eliminating their dependency on foreign aid.
With the support of donated funds mostly coming from Miami related events and fundraisers, the organization has provided temporary aid assistance in relation to accommodations, by creating a transitional village in Jacmel, Haiti. The housing structures are made of durable and sustainable materials, which provide a better shelter to the 27 families who have been relocated from tents in Belvil, near Port-au-Prince. The village has recently been equipped with showers, toilets, a sanitation system and solar lighting is soon to come.
